British royal weddings have always been magnificent and breathtaking occasions that have millions of viewers from around the globe. When thinking of weddings, the first color that comes to anyone’s mind is the color white. The tradition of a white wedding gown came into fashion all because of one bride, Queen Victoria of England.

Prior to her marriage in 1840 to Prince Albert, brides would wear colorful dresses. When a member of the royal family was married, they typically wore the full regalia of the monarchy. Queen Victoria broke tradition by choosing to wear a simple white gown accented with orange blossoms (symbol of fertility), diamond earrings and necklace and no tiara. Brides from around the world carefully studied Queen Victoria’s attire and immediately followed suit. From then on, weddings never looked the way they did before 1840.

Fast forward to the Royal Wedding of 2011. The one thing about the Royal Wedding that everyone waited breathlessly for was the revelation of Kate Middleton’s wedding gown.

As we caught our first glimpse, we were immediately taken aback by the breathtaking simplicity of Kate Middleton’s wedding gown. Designed by Sarah Burton of the house of Alexander McQueen, the beautiful gown was made from white and ivory satin, French Chantilly lace and a train that was almost 9 feet long.

Kate’s dress was simple, elegant and classic. Definitely a lovely dress for a lovely lady. It is also noteworthy to mention that a similar dress was also worn by Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco on her wedding day.

Both royal ladies looked absolutely stunning and exuded happiness on their respective wedding days. You, too, can achieve royal glamour with the magic of L’ezu Studio. Known for their elegant, sophisticated and beautiful gowns, L’ezu Studio is proud to present the Style 1278 wedding gown.
